Why October is my favorite month to visit Clearwater Beach, Florida

, , ,
Clearwater Beach Engagement Ring Photo

Beautiful Clearwater Beach Weather

The Clearwater Beach weather in October is perfect! Early in October, you may see a little bit of rain left over from September. But those days quickly turn into clear skies, with usually only ~3 days seeing rain in October. Not only are their clear skies, but the temperature is great too. The sunny days usually have 70°s and 80°s with the nights dropping into the 60°s.

The weather makes it a perfect time of year for lounging on the beach, swimming in the warm ocean water or pool, taking a beautiful walk to Caladesi Island and a great time to attend the fun October events around Clearwater Beach, Florida.

Great Events in Clearwater Beach Area

Throughout the month of October, there are a lot of events in the Clearwater Beach area. Enjoy a beautiful sunset festival every night at Pier 60. Stick around on Friday and Saturday nights for free outdoor Halloween movies at Pier 60’s Sunset Cinema!

Experience live jazz music from famous jazz musicians at Coachman Park in downtown Clearwater. The Clearwater Jazz Holiday lasts from October 18th through the 21st!

Stroll along the beach walk on South Beach Clearwater and combine the beautiful beach views with amazing chalk artwork at the Clearwater Beach Chalk Art Festival from October 19th through the 22nd.

Combine great music with delicious food at my favorite Clearwater events, Frenchy’s Stone Crab Festival from October 26th through the 28th. The multiday beach party features live music, delicious food featuring stone crab and great drink specials!

Less Crowded

Despite the beautiful weather and great events, the entire Clearwater beach area is less crowded in October. The beach is far from quiet on the weekends but during the week you’ll easily find a great spot on the beach to lounge or play with family and friends. Off the beach, it’ll be easier to get into restaurants. You may still have to wait for a table, but it’ll be a significantly shorter wait than it would be during the busy summer. If you’re planning to rent some jet skis, go on a sunset sail, or other sunset cruises – you should still call ahead and set a reservation to ensure your spot (especially on weekends!) but overall, these are also less crowded during October!

Great Place to Celebrate

Clearwater Beach is a great place to celebrate a lot of different life events. For me personally, it’s the ideal place to celebrate my anniversary. I asked my wife, Nicki, to marry me on the soft sand of Clearwater Beach on October 29, 2013. Just under one year later, on October 25, 2014, we got married back home in St. Louis, Missouri — though we often talked about getting married on Captain Memo’s Pirate Ship. Since then, Nicki and I have celebrated our anniversary in Clearwater Beach, Florida as often as possible!

Clearwater Beach Weather October 2018

October is my favorite month to visit Clearwater Beach, Florida! October in Clearwater Beach is full of fun events and beautiful weather! I love sitting outside, listening to live music and enjoying some great seafood at the Stone Crab Festivals and the Jazz Holiday events. All the outdoor events throughout the year are fun, but combine them with the perfect October weather and they are perfect! The Clearwater Beach weather in October typical has 80° highs and 71° lows with only 3 days in the entire month seeing rain. It’s absolutely beautiful! The beginning of October this year appears to be a little bit warmer with a slightly higher chance or rain, but still matching weather in the 80°s during the day and dropping into the 70°s later in the month.

Clearwater Beach Hurricane Season

,
Clearwater Beach Hurricane Season

It’s early September 2018. We have just watched Tropical Storm Gordon push through the Gulf of Mexico, flooding the streets in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas. Now we are keeping our eyes on Hurricane Florence in the Atlantic. Hurricane Florence is tracking towards Bermuda but could turn at any time. Behind Hurricane Florence, there are two more storms starting to build that could be headed towards the United States. It’s officially the peak of the Clearwater Beach Hurricane Season.

The North Atlantic Ocean Hurricane Season, that includes the storms that would hit Clearwater Beach, actually started back in June and continues through November. The peak of Clearwater Beach Hurricane Season begins in mid-August and continues through September.

Memories of Thanksgiving usually come from Thanksgiving dinner. Don’t worry, all the condos in both Surfside Condominiums and The Villas of Clearwater Beach feature full kitchens with large refrigerators and ovens. The full kitchens and easy access to large and nearby grocery stores make it easy to not only enjoy a memorable trip to Clearwater Beach but also enjoy your traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Not looking to cook a large meal since you’re on vacation? No worries, there are many great restaurants available for Thanksgiving dinner. Two of the best are even very close by.

Bob Heilman’s Beachcomber Restaurant features an amazing Thanksgiving dinner with classic Thanksgiving entrees or more beach inspired options such as lobster. Another restaurant that features a wonderful Clearwater Beach Thanksgiving dinner is Columbia Restaurant (Sand Key).

Both of these restaurants require a reservation and you’ll need to reserve a table for Thanksgiving far in advance. Book your condominium right now while units are still available, and call to reserve a table for at these restaurants right after!
